Submissions are open from Monday, June 17, 2024 to Friday, June 28, 2024 and are on a first-come first-served basis.
Contestants will be notified of their acceptance on Monday, July 1, 2024.
The qualifying rounds will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 5:00p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at The Dutch Pot Jamaican Restaurant, 2484 N. State Road 7, Lauderdale Lakes, FL 33313. The contest will consist of 5 rounds of 5 competitors, where the top 5 winners of each round will go on to the championship round which be held at 8:00 p.m. on the same date at the same location.
The winner of the championship round will receive $1,000.
Official Contest Rules:
The qualifying rounds will be judged by the first contestant who consumes all the patties placed on his/her tray. This determines the contestant who moves on to the championship round.
The championship round will be judged by the number of patties consumed within a 2-minute time period, or the contestant who consumes all the patties placed on the tray before the 2-minute time period end.
Each contestant will receive six (6) patties on his/her tray.
Competitors may eat ONLY in their designated areas. Any contestant leaving their designated area during the contest will be automatically disqualified.
Competitors may not touch the patty tray or the patties on the tray before the contest begins.
The use of utensils is not allowed.
Competitors cannot receive help from fellow competitors or spectators.
Competitors may not make physical contact with any other competitor at any time. Any competitor who deliberately makes contact with another competitor will be disqualified.
If a competitor vomits or regurgitates at any time during the competition or immediately after the competition, he or she will be disqualified. Any visible signs of sickness will cause disqualification.
In the event of a tie – a final challenge speed round will be initiated, which will consist of the rules of the qualifying round – whoever consumes two (2) patties first wins.
All contestants' names and pictures will be used by The Dutch Pot Jamaican Restaurant and/or Car Accident Referral Services for promotional purposes.
Terms and conditions:
Must be 18 or over to enter. Any competitor with a shellfish allergy, serious ailment, or health problem may not compete in the contest. You are aware that this is an eating competition. Consuming large amounts of any singular item at a fast rate can result in indigestion and can be potentially hazardous. This is an uncomfortable activity. Any contestant entering does so off his/her own free will and without any coercion from the organizers of this patty eating contest. Contestant should not enter and eat unless he or she is medically capable and properly trained. Good sportsmanship is key to this patty eating contest. This contest is meant to be a fun activity. If at any time, a contestant finds it difficult to continue, he/she should stop and be immediately disqualified. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of you accepting my entry, I, waive and release The Dutch Pot Jamaican Restaurant, Car Accident Referral Services, their representatives, sponsors, and their successors from all claims of liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event.
